Consulting Experience
Consulting projects give students the opportunity to work on a team and make managerial decisions to improve an existing small business or aid in the startup of a local small business. Students involved will perform managerial analyses and give advise to an existing small business, or to an individual starting a business. Dun and Bradstreet has found that poor management is a major factor in 95% of all small business failures. Even those businesses that are rapidly expanding have an acute need for the planning and analysis of management consultants to ensure that the business continues to succeed in terms of its long-term goals. Students who plan to start their own businesses gain indispensable experience at learning how a small business runs and the problems a small business faces. The skills learned in consulting experiences are highly applicable and pertinent to any future career in business.
