Mentoring

Judy Love mentors a group of students

The College of Business Administration has a mentor program available to students, which we strongly advise students to take advantage of.  Students meet with their mentors several times a semester, and mentors provide the wisdom and guidance of an experienced business leader.  As a result of these mentorships, students have contacts within companies they might hope to work for when they finish their degree program.

Business Connected Events

We also have annual events like Dialogue Days, where for two days dozens of companies send representatives into the classroom.  Business leaders essentially mentor students in the classroom and interact with future business leaders.  Many students form relationships with companies they're interested in joining through Dialogue Days.  In addition to Dialogue Days, there are a number of other annual and monthly speaker events, like the Executives in Residence program, in which faculty and students get to exchange views with, and gain insight from, a prominent business executive.  The result is that a student who utilizes these mentorship opportunities will have been shown the ropes of the actual business world, as well as having contacts within it, putting the CMU business graduate ahead of  graduates of other programs.
